Health and Persecution
MD, a member of the Town Cell Group lost her Father on June 8, 2008 as a result of the lack of clinic in the community and the unavailability of vehicle to transport him to the next available clinic after a brief illness.
Brother MS of the Town Cell Group, on June 17, lost his sister over night from cholera due to lack of clinic in the area.
On June 14, a couple was cast out of their home along with their two little children as a result of becoming Christians.
Plan of Action
Begin Children’s ministry
Three days prayer retreat
Three days leadership training workshop. (Hopefully to be conducted by Rev. Browne)
Purchase 10 Holy Bibles, bicycle and generator.
Hindrances/Obstacles
1. Heavy rainfall most often hinders evangelism and the use of our new bicycle in reaching the various cell groups.
2. Lack of communication asset also hinders fast and easy report on mission progress in the ministry. Cost of using commercial cafe unimaginably too high. For instance, to scan one picture (photo) costs not less than 50.00 Liberian Dollars or one United States Dollar.
Recommendations
We recommend the following as a way forward for effective ministry operation:
1. Immediate incorporation of the ministry in Liberia for our security and to avoid would be future problem.
2. A simple desk top or laptop computer, a digital camera to enable easy reporting.
Prayer Request
Kindly pray along with us for all that have been recommended, and for success in these Muslim communities where our church planters presently work.
Fourth in a series of updates from a 2008 Liberia trip by Rev. Browne. All names and towns are changed or abbreviated because of security concerns in this region.
The community visited is 85 percent Muslim with a few thousand inhabitants.
